Decarbonisation and target planning · FY2026 to FY2040

Sustainability planner

Set the decisions on the left and see what they do to the 2030 and 2040 targets, what they cost, and when each one has to be approved. The starting point is the 2025/26 ESG data used across this portal. Costs are planning assumptions you can change.

Working out the FY30 position.

Scope 1+2 in FY30—Target 15,418 tCO2e
Change vs FY22 baseline—SBTi target is −50%
Scope 1+2 in FY40—Target is zero
Investment to FY30—Capital spend, USD
Net yearly saving in FY30—Energy savings less running costs

Scope 1+2 emissions to FY2040

Reported years, the current path with no new action, this plan, and the straight-line SBTi path to −50% by FY30 and zero by FY40. FY22 is derived from the report's statement that FY26 is 1% above it.

From FY26 to FY30

What moves emissions over the next four years. Each decision is added in the order listed on the left.

Cost per tonne cut

Each bar is one decision. Width is the FY30 cut, height is the yearly cost per tonne including investment over its life. Below zero pays for itself. The dashed line marks the cut needed from the current path.

Decision economics

Each decision measured on its own against the rest of this plan, in FY30. Commit by is the start year less a typical lead time for approval, procurement and build.

Roadmap and decision deadlines

Hollow circle: latest approval date. Dashed line: lead time. Solid bar: in operation. Diamonds are public targets. Red means the approval date has already passed for the chosen start year.

Value chain (Scope 3)

The report counts five categories, and commuting is 70% of them. The full view adds an estimate for purchased materials (Category 1), which is usually most of an apparel maker's footprint. Change the estimate under Assumptions.

Other public targets

Simple projections for the water, waste, materials and gender targets. Move a slider to test how much extra effort each one needs.

Assumptions

Report figures are fixed. Everything below is a planning assumption. Replace the defaults with internal numbers before using results for approval.

How the model works

  • Starting point is FY2025/26 as reported: Scope 1 of 8,942 and Scope 2 of 22,201 tCO2e, split by source and country (report pages 79 to 82 and 88).
  • Electricity use is backed out of Scope 2 using the grid factors under Assumptions. Production grows each year, efficiency reduces energy use, and national grids get cleaner each year.
  • New solar replaces grid power up to each country's demand. In Bangladesh it replaces on-site gas power, capped at the gas share used for power.
  • Power contracts and certificates reduce market-based Scope 2, which SBTi accepts. Location-based emissions would not fall.
  • R-22 falls in a straight line from today to the phase-out year. Other refrigerant leaks fall from FY27. Moving heat to biomass assumes certified sustainable supply. Biogenic emissions are reported separately and not counted here.
  • Each decision's cut is measured by removing it from the full plan, so the cuts in the table may not add exactly to the total.
  • Northweft Apparel Group is fictional. The starting point is adapted from a published apparel-sector ESG report, and this is an illustrative planning model.
